25 November 2011 - It's all lovely bubbly!
Local children were encouraged to enjoy all things 'bath time' at Red Jelly classes this week. They delved into large foamy messy trays, decorated a giant cardboard bath complete with taps, painted a huge bubbly wall mural and practised bubble painting.
"Kids literally got stuck right in this week, they sat in foamy water trays and smeared foam all over themselves," said Natasha Tamlyn, Red Jelly owner. "We encourage children to explore in their own way and their own time, and when they go for an all-over sensory experience it's just brilliant!".
Marianne Allen, local mum to Bella, said, "we really enjoy Red Jelly classes, they are doing a fantastic job flying the flag for explorative, creative play and educating parents too."
5 November 2011 - Firework fun for tiny ones
With fantastic fireworks lighting up the sky outdoors, children were kept safe and warm indoors at Red Jelly this week. In preparation for the weekend's bonfire festivities, local kids were busy decorating giant cardboard rocket playhouses, making shiny mini rockets, blasting painty firework pictures and exploring space rocks and glittery moon sand in Red Jelly's renowned messy trays.
"Many pre-schoolers find bonfire night a little scary with all the big bangs, so we thought we'd provide a simple and safe place for them to explore firework ideas," said Tash Tamlyn, Red Jelly owner, "our non-scary rockets have been a big hit, with every class this week sold out!".
Red Jelly provides creative play classes, parties and events in Brighton & Hove for children under seven. With a big emphasis on using recycled materials, Red Jelly is a place where children and their parents or carers can go to make big art, explore different materials and make a lot of mess, stuff they just can't do at home.
Classes run throughout the week but the creative play company also runs one Saturday each month for those parents who work full-time. At the next Saturday event, on 12th November, children will be welcomed into the wonderful world of wizards and fairies. More information can be found at www.redjellykids.co.uk.
16 September 2011 - Roar, like a Dinosaur
Following the highly popular appearance of dinosaurs at Brighton's Churchill Square over the summer, local children continued to enjoy a prehistoric theme at Red Jelly's creative play classes this week.
As a paint-packed dinosaur hunt got underway, kids decorated a giant cardboard dinosaur cave, painted a large wall mural, made big dinosaur shapes and footprints, and explored toy dinosaurs hiding in fossils, yellow volcanic 'lava' and squelchy foam. Each class closed with a dinosaur-themed story and invited children to "roar" like a dinosaur.
"Our dinosaur theme was a very big hit this week," said Tash Tamlyn, Owner of Red Jelly. "The children have enjoyed creatively learning about the beasts through activities like paint stomping and stamping. Having a party-like atmosphere at our classes means children learn about all sorts of daily life in a fun and engaging way."
Red Jelly promotes creative play in a free-flow environment for children under seven. Every week there is a different theme and accompanying activities. Classes run during the week, and also one Saturday each month; you can check the website for more information www.redjellykids.co.uk.
24th August 2011 - Red Jelly Fish
Local children were enchanted by giant fish, octopus, jellyfish and other sea creatures as they explored a 'summer surprises at sea' theme with creative play company Red Jelly this week. A large, cardboard treasure chest and huge sea scene wall mural were decorated by the budding young artists, with paint, shimmery collage materials and seaweed spaghetti.
"Our summer events were booked out weeks in advance this year," said Red Jelly owner Tash Tamlyn. "Our customers were really pleased that we were running special activities during the school holidays when many of the toddler groups close."
Red Jelly runs classes and events throughout the week for children under the age of six. Every week families are welcomed along to enjoy a different, magical theme. With few places to go where children are allowed to freely explore art and really make a mess, Red Jelly is providing a much needed creative space for our younger generation.

It's great that the mumandworking awards celebrate the people who are making this possible for parents across the UK and its great to see so many successful mums out there taking part "

20th June 2011 - Local Children Celebrate Official Start to Summer
This week over 120 children from across Brighton & Hove will build a giant, sunshine wall mural with sunflowers, leaves and lashings of paint, in a bid to chase away the rain and bring on the sunshine.
As the official start to summer begins, with the longest day of the year (Tuesday 21st June), local business Red Jelly is encouraging kids to don painting smocks and paintbrushes to decorate a 3 metre wide by 2 metre high mural with all things yellow.
Children will also be encouraged to explore banks of messy trays filled with yellow substances such as sand, water, gloop and custard. In addition, they will be preparing for when the sun does come, making sun visors and sunflower pictures.
"If we can't have the sunshine outside then we're definitely going to bring it on indoors this week," said Tash Tamlyn, owner of Red Jelly. "Our sunny atmosphere is just the tonic for this wet weather washout."
14th May 2011 - Fringe Fun for Jelly Tots

Children (and the grown-ups) decorated a giant, four-turret cardboard fort, made medieval accessories like shields, swords and crowns, and explored toy knights and princesses in the special, Red Jelly messy trays that were filled with glittery foam, 'royal' jelly and squidgy, shiny slush.
"What an awesome castle, we loved the event and had so much fun," said Marie Wilson-Smyth, who brought her three-year old son Gabriel along to the Red Jelly party.
"We are so proud to be part of the Brighton Fringe," said Tash Tamlyn, owner of Red Jelly. "We run classes throughout the week but the Red Jelly events we run at weekends are brilliant for the whole family to come along to."

At classes, children, who are accompanied by their parents or carers, play with art, explore natural and recycled materials and make a lot of mess.
"The free-flow environment we provide means that children are in control; they gain confidence by exploring in their own time and their own way," said Red Jelly owner, Tash Tamlyn. "Parents love that they leave the mess behind and don't have to worry about it in their own homes; one recently described our classes as 'jolly carnage' - very apt!".

2 December 2010 - Snow Problem if you're Thomas!
Despite the adverse conditions bringing snow and ice to our real train tracks, local children were given the chance to paint and decorate a huge cardboard train at their local Red Jelly class today. The Thomas look-a-like train was a big hit amongst kids unable to get to closed schools, as well as their younger siblings.
This week Red Jelly has helped parents keep their kids amused and warm, with no danger of weather warnings stopping play. "Our Thomas-like train has not only provided hours of painting fun, it's also been used creatively as a playhouse and den," said Red Jelly owner Tash Tamlyn. "Allowing children to explore and play with art in our free-flow environment is great at building their confidence and creative spirit."
